First Time Usage

Welcome to your first use of the On The Chain Portfolio App! This section is designed to guide you, as a new user, through setting up and navigating the app. Whether you have questions about adding your first exchange or wallet, here you’ll find all the information you need to get started. If you run into trouble, contact us via the support form.

Step 1 – Connect Your Exchange

  1. Create an API Key and Secret: Before starting, make sure you’ve created an API key and Secret on your exchange.
  2. Navigate to Connections: In the left menu of the Portfolio App, select Connections then Exchanges.
  3. Add Exchange: Click the blue plus on the right of the screen to add a new exchange. Choose your exchange from the list and fill in your API key and Secret in the designated fields.
  4. Confirm the Data: Follow the steps to review your entries and confirm the connection.
  5. The first synchronization will run and display whether it succeeded or not.

Step 2 - Add Your Wallet

  1.  Go to Wallets: Under Connections, select Wallets.
  2. Add Wallet: Click the blue plus and enter your wallet name, choose the cryptocurrency, select the blockchain network, and input the address. For some cryptocurrencies, you may enter an extended public key.
  3. Confirm and Verify: After entering all required data, review in the next step and click Confirm to successfully add your wallet.
  4. A synchronization will run and report whether it succeeded or not.

Step 3 – Explore Your Crypto Data

Once your crypto has been synchronized, the "Dashboard" and "Portfolio" sections offer a detailed overview of your holdings. If your subscription includes transaction data, these will be visible under "Transactions".

Step 4 – Manage Balance Differences

Go to “Balance Differences” by clicking its icon at the top of the screen. Then select the action to resolve the balance discrepancy for a specific cryptocurrency. Repeat this until all differences are resolved.

Important to Know

Security: Your API key and Secret are stored securely, and the Portfolio App only requires read-only permissions, meaning we cannot make trades or transfer funds on your behalf.

Synchronization: After connecting your exchange or wallet, synchronization of your holdings and transactions begins automatically so your dashboard stays up to date.
